Hi I'm Adam Meredith. I have been interested
in steam since I was very young as my parents already regularly attended steam rallies with motorised bicycles. I was
fortunate in that my grand father bought a 4" Burrell traction engine when I was 8 which gave me lots of hands on experience
and because of this I joined the Steam Apprentice Club.
9 years ago I was attending a driving
day at Alan Sparkes' premises and met Richard Willcox, Chairman of the Road Locomotive Society and have been helping
him to this day with his fleet of engines.
5 years ago we progressed onto a
4" Foster. This engine needed painting as Richard (also Engine Liveries Officer for the Road Locomotive Society)
informed us that it was totally incorrect. We bought the correct colours and painted the engine. Great discussions were had
about the lining out scheme and how we were going to do it as there were several methods. I acquired several lining out brushes
and found i had a natural talent for lining.
When the Foster was finished and exhibited
at its first rally the attention it drew was amazing. I was then asked if I would be able to line out a 3" Alchin.
I then progressed onto full size projects and have now been doing it for nearly 4 years.
